On 28 February 2025, an avalanche struck a BRO Labour Camp near Mana Village, burying 57 workers inside eight containers and one shed. The Indian Army’s Ibex Brigade swiftly mobilized over 100 personnel, including doctors, ambulances, and equipment, to conduct rescue operations. By 1150 hours, they had located five containers and rescued 10 individuals, four of whom are in critical condition. Despite ongoing small-scale avalanches and heavy snowfall, the rescue teams are cautiously searching for the remaining trapped workers. Meanwhile, GREF is clearing roads, and additional medical aid is being sent from Joshimath to support the efforts.
